John D. Ratliff has worked in the surgical technology profession since 1994 and has served as a surgical technology educator since January 2003. His experience spans more than 30 years in surgical technology and more than 20 years in surgical technology education, including curriculum development, program leadership, and preparing future surgical technologists for professional practice.
Mr. Ratliff is the author of Surgical Technology: Principles and Practice, 9th Edition (Elsevier), the accompanying student workbook, and a forthcoming pocket guide for surgical technology students. He is also developing a national certification study guide for surgical technologists. He holds the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential and has been recognized as a Fellow of the Association of Surgical Technologists (FAST).
Throughout his career, Mr. Ratliff has combined extensive operating room experience with teaching, writing, and professional leadership. His background provides attorneys with an expert whose opinions are objective, evidence-based, and grounded in accepted surgical technology principles and current standards of practice.
